The ‘crescent’ plan of the award winning GCAA Dubai Regional Headquarters design (Phase I) was perceived as an integral part of the cosmic order in the lunar calendar that guides the cycle of the Islamic world.  The ‘dune’ massing on the other hand recalls the desert landscape indigenous to the region of the Emirates.

The aluminum-clad aerodynamic shape of the structure echoes wings ready to soar in flight. Yet the building, firmly rooted to the land, displays a refined dignity and timeless elegance befitting the image of the General Civil Aviation Authority.

An additional office block (Phase II), designed with a complimentary vocabulary, was subsequently introduced to house supplementary functions for the head office.
